Situated in the Kastrup suburb on the island of Amager, and at a distance of about 8 km (5 miles) south of Denmark’s capital city Copenhagen, lies the country’s international airport, called Copenhagen Airport. It mainly serves Scandinavia, or the Northern European countries, such as Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. It also operates flights to other destinations around the globe.

The airport is also called Kastrup Lufthavn (named after the suburb) and Kobenhavns Lufthavn (named after the airport’s the owner/operator company).

Operation Hours: Copenhagen Airport is open 24 hours. However, certain shops, food concessions, on-site accommodation, and public and private transport services may not offer services throughout day and night. Also, services like airline check-in and baggage drop hours may vary with the flight schedule. Therefore, it is advised that you check with the airport.

About CPH Airport’s Terminal

Copenhagen Airport has two terminals, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. All domestic and international flights are handled at both terminals that have a common check-in area. The airport terminals are connected via concourses and piers (A, B, C, D, and F). Piers A, B, and D are used specifically for Schengen flights, Pier C is used by non-Schengen flights and Pier F is used by low-cost carriers.

Travelers can easily find various amenities, such as information desks, lounges, ATMs, conference rooms for business travelers, newsagent, courtesy telephones, restaurants, restrooms, facilities for handicap passengers, retail shopping outlets, ticket counters, baggage claim, and locker facilities, gift shops, transportation, car park and more at the airport.

On-site and Off-site Parking Options

Copenhagen Airport offers convenient and affordable parking options to travelers. Parking is available at the terminals. One can choose from on-site parking options and off-site car parks that are located in the nearest proximity to the airport. These consist of short-term and long-term parking. There is also a separate parking space for Electric Vehicles (EVs) which are provided with limited charging stations. Here we’ll discuss some of the Parking Lot at the airport.

Budget parking: This parking Lot is the cheapest parking at the CPH airport. You’ll get free cancellation also if you booked your parking in advance. Free bus service is available for reaching the terminal. It is outdoor parking where you can park for a minimum of 5 days. this budget parking is available at P15, P17, and P19. The booking space price is 399 DKK per week.

Standard Parking: This parking is one of the nearest parking from terminal 2 and terminal 3 which you can reach there through a walk. You will get indoor and outdoor parking here. You can also get free cancellation options if you booked online. In standard parking, there is also an option for disabled parking. The booking price for this Lot is around 1100 DKK per week.

Standard+: This parking is available nearer to the terminal which is within walking distance. The price for this parking is 1.250 DKK per week.

Cell Phone Lot: The airport may not provide a Cell Phone Lot to persons waiting for arriving family members, relatives, or friends.

Valet Parking: Valet Parking service is not available at the airport.

Security Check-points

There are security checkpoints at the airport’s terminal. All passengers are required to pass through the security checkpoints. The area before security is called pre-security (or landside), while the area after security is called post-security (or airside).

Help Desk

When you are at the CPH Airport and need help, there are information desks available to assist you. Here, you can enquire about your flight or find other facilities easily at the airport. These are located in the landside and airside of the airport’s terminals.

Wi-Fi and Device Charging Outlets

Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout the terminals and concourses at the airport, in case you want to connect your smartphone, tablet, or laptop to access the internet. Free Wi-Fi (connect to “CPH Airport Free WIFI” network) internet service is offered with unlimited usage.

In addition to Wi-Fi internet access, mobile and laptop charging power outlets are also available throughout the airport, in case you need to charge your laptop and/or phone’s battery. The facility provides AC and USB power outlets at the airline gate areas.

Baggage Handling and Storage

Luggage Lockers: Lockers and luggage storage facilities are available at the airport.

Luggage Wrapping: Luggage wrapping services are not available at the airport.

Luggage Trolleys/Carts: Self-service luggage carts are available at the airport at no additional cost. These can be found in the Baggage Claim area.

Porter Services: Porter services are not available at the airport.

There is a Baggage Claim facility available at the airport.

Make sure to check with your respective airline as to what carry-on items (and their size) are allowed.

Lounges and Business Conference Rooms

At CPH airport, passengers can use public lounges, VIP lounges, and business conference rooms, which may be available for free or paid in order to access these facilities.

A few lounges and business conference rooms that are available at the airport are:

Aspire Lounge: The lounge is located on the airside of Terminal 2. Complimentary snacks and beverages are also served. Wi-Fi and newspapers are available. Access to the lounge is by paying at the door or using membership programs.

Atelier Lounge: The lounge is located on the airside of Terminal 2, near the A-gates entrance. Access to the lounge is by paying at the door or using membership programs and lounge passes.

Aviator Lounge: The lounge is located on the airside of Terminal 2, 1st Floor, Pier B. Access to the lounge is by paying at the door or using membership programs and lounge passes.

CPH Lounge: The lounge is located on the airside of Terminal 2. Access to the lounge is by paying at the door only.

Eventyr Lounge: The lounge is located on the airside of Terminal 2, Pier C, at Gate C26. The shower is also available. Access to the lounge is by paying at the door or using membership programs and lounge passes.

Prime class Lounge: The lounge is located on the airside of Terminal 3, Pier D, 2nd Floor, next to Gate 101. Access to the lounge is by paying at the door or using membership programs.

SAS Lounge: The lounge is located on the airside of Terminal 3, near Gate C10. The shower is available. Access to the lounge is by paying at the door only.

SAS Gold Lounge: The lounge is located on the airside of Terminal 3. Access to the lounge is available to passengers having gold membership of Star Alliance and EuroBonus.

There are several hotels around the city that also offer conference and meeting spaces to business travelers.

Stores and Duty-Free Shopping

There are plenty of shops that can be easily found throughout the airport’s terminals and concourses. These shops sell a wide range of items, from children’s toys to fashion accessories for adults. You may also buy books, magazines, newspapers, etc., to help pass time during your stopover or flight delay. A few retail stores include Arket, Georg Jensen, Kaufmann, Bang & Olufsen, Bottega Veneta, Burberry, By Malene Birger, CAPI, Design Letters, Eton, Gucci, Lego, and many more.

A duty-Free store is also available at the airport that sells all kinds of merchandise, including souvenirs. The tax-Free store is located airside.

Cafe, Bar and Restaurants

Finding snack and beverage options should not be a problem as there are many local and popular nationwide food chains at the CPH airport. These cafeterias and restaurants are located throughout the terminals and concourses, giving you the best options to eat and satisfy your pre-flight craving.

Food concessions throughout the airport operate with varying schedules. A wide variety of dining options are also available and can be found in landside and airside areas. These include Arket, Lakrids by Johan Bulow, Nordic Gastronomy, 7-Eleven, Aamanns, Burger King, Caffeine, Espresso House, Gorm’s, Joe & The Juice, Lagkagehuset, Le Sommelier Bar & Bistro, McDonald’s, Mikkeller, and Starbucks.

Other Amenities Available at Copenhagen Airport

There are other amenities that are available to passengers at the airport. These include:

Children’s Play Area: The airport offers a play zone for children. These can be found at several locations: airside of Terminal 2, near the entrance to Gates A2-17; near the entrance to Gates B2-B19; Gates B2-19 Hall; and near Gate C10.

Nursing Rooms: The airport provides nursing rooms to passengers traveling with infants. The facility can be found at the landside and airside of both Terminals 2 and 3.

Medical Services: CPH Airport Doctor and Apoteket provide healthcare services to passengers that are in need of emergency medical care or minor first-aid treatment. The facilities are located landside of Terminal 2, 1st Floor.

Pharmacy: Travellers can purchase medicines and prescription drugs at the airport’s chemist store. The Airport Pharmacy is located landside of Terminal 2.

Strollers: Strollers are available for rent at the airport. You can get them from the International Departures hall and near the Information Desk area.

ATM: ATMs are available at the airport. You can swipe your bank card and withdraw cash at the Copenhagen Airport’s ATMs if you’re running low on cash or need to make cash payments at other services or stores. Currencies are dispensed in DKK, EUR, and GBP. You can find ATMs located at the landside and airside of Terminals 2 and 3.

Currency Exchange: The currency used in Denmark is Danish Krone (DKK or KR). Currency exchange facilities are available at the CPH airport. The service is operated by Danske Bank and Global Exchange. Foreign exchange counters are located in the landside and airside of Terminal 3.

Banking Services: Banking facilities are available at Copenhagen Airport. Danske Bank, and Global Blue operate banking services and have their offices located on the landside and airside of Terminal 2.

Hotels On-site and Nearby Copenhagen Airport

Finding accommodation on-site or nearby Copenhagen Airport should not be a problem for travelers as there are several hotels and resorts out there. Best Western Plus Airport Hotel: The hotel is located less than ten minutes from CPH airport. There is a free shuttle bus service available daily for transfer from 06:00 to 22:00 hours. Pick-up and drop-off are located at Exit B of Terminal 2.

Clarion Hotel: The hotel is located less than 5 minutes from Copenhagen Airport. Shuttle transfer service may not be available.

Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers: The hotel is located less than ten minutes from Copenhagen Airport. There is a free shuttle bus service available daily for transfer.

Zleep Hotel: The hotel is located less than 5 minutes from Copenhagen Airport. Shuttle transfer service may not be available.

Ground Transport Options To and From Copenhagen Airport

Getting to and from Copenhagen Airport should not be much of a hassle as you will find transport options. You can quickly find a convenient mode of transportation to meet your travel needs. There are several ground transportation options available to travelers that make visiting nearby places and other places of interest very convenient, quick, and affordable.

Many travelers often find shuttle services to be very favorable as it saves them plenty of time when getting to hotels and/or airports. Free shuttle buses provide travelers with easy connectivity. Also, there may be a few hotels in the city and adjoining areas that provide free or on-demand shuttle services to and from the airport.

Additionally, you may also book pre-arranged rides that offer services to and from the CPH airport, which can also be scheduled as per your needs. You can usually find their kiosks or counters/stands located either at the terminal’s entrance or exit area. These may also contain information on the companies that are permitted to render such services at Copenhagen Airport.

Copenhagen Airport Shuttle Service

There is a shuttle transfer service available to passengers within the airport. Free shuttle buses operate 24 hours between the terminals.

In addition to inter-terminal shuttle services, door-to-door and inter-city shuttle service is also available to passengers. The service may also be available on request. You can contact the shuttle service provider from Copenhagen Airport. The pick-up point is located outside of terminals.

Hotel Shuttle Service

Few hotels and motels in the city may offer free or paid shuttle transfer services to their guests. Therefore, it is advised that you contact the hotel for more information with regard to pick-up and drop-off, besides accommodation. Shuttle stops are located in the ground-level transportation areas of both terminals.

Bus Service

Public bus transportation services are available for the commute. It is both affordable and convenient and can get you to places in no time. There are many bus lines that serve between the CPH airport and Copenhagen city center. Buses 5A, 35, and 36 operate daily routes to and from the Copenhagen Airport and the city.

Travelers can also take free rides on the airport’s Terminal Bus for convenient transport.

Train and Metro Services

CPH Airport is connected with train and metro transit systems for commuting. There are regional and inter-city trains that connect the Copenhagen Airport with Denmark and southern Sweden. You can find the train ticket office located in Terminal 3, above the railway station.

In addition to trains, metro services are also available to travelers. The metro trains operate at a frequency of 6 minutes during the day and at a frequency of 20 minutes during the night. The metro station is located in the extension of Terminal 3.

Limousine Service

Limousines are available for hire at the CPH airport. Rates may depend on the destination you are headed to. There are several local companies that offer limousine services, which can also be found through local directories and online.

Car Hire Service

You can hire a car at the CPH airport if you are in the mood to cruise around places in the city. There are several companies that offer cars on hire/rent at the airport. The car hire/rental agencies or companies have their counters located in the Car Rental Centre, which is open from 07:00 till 23:00 hours. Pick-up is located on-site, on the ground-level transportation area. However, there are courtesy shuttle services available from the airport.

The companies or agencies that offer car hire/rental services at the Copenhagen Airport include Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, and Sixt.

Taxi Service

Taxis are available, if you need a ride to a hotel or want to go sightseeing. Fares are charged by taximeters. Taxi stands can be found on-site, on the ground-level transportation area of Terminals 2 and 3.

There are several companies or agencies that operate taxi services to and from CPH airport.

Ride Sharing Service

Aside from several transport options that are available to travelers from and to Copenhagen Airport, ride-sharing services are also offered. Uber and Lyft operate services at the Copenhagen Airport and have their designated pick-up and drop-off points at the airport.
