Air Dolomiti Baggage Policy

Air Dolomiti is an Italian-based regional airline and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lufthansa. It owns 15 Embraer195 fleets and operates from its base at Munich Airport and Frankfurt Airport in Germany. It flies to over 14 destinations in Italy and Austria in cooperation with parent Lufthansa Airlines from Munich or Frankfurt Airport.

Air Dolomiti Baggage Allowance

Economy Light 

The maximum weight of this cabin bag should not exceed 8kg.

  • Passengers or adults who are over the age of 12 are permitted to bring in one cabin bag
  • Children between the age of 2 to 11 years will have the same baggage allowance as adults plus one collapsible stroller or one car seat 
  • Infants under 2 years are permitted to bring one collapsible stroller or one car seat 
  • Miles and More Frequent Traveller members (silver status) – they are allowed to bring in one cabin bag max 8kg only.No checked bags are allowed for Economy Light fares in this case 
  • Miles and more Hon Circle Senator or Gold Star Alliance 

These members are allowed to bring only one cabin bag with a maximum weight of 8kg. They are not permitted additional bags and no checked bags too.

Economy Classic and  Economy Flex

  • Adults or passengers are allowed one cabin bag plus one checked-in suitcase 
  • The maximum weight of the cabin bag should be 8kg 
  • The maximum weight of the checked-in bag should be 23 kg 
  • Children are given the same baggage allowance as adults plus one collapsible stroller or one car seat.
  • Infants are allowed one checked-in suitcase and one collapsible stroller or one car seat 
  • The checked-in baggage for infants should not exceed 10kg 

Miles and More Frequent Traveller (Silver Status)

Customers will be allowed to bring :

  • One cabin bag with a maximum weight of 8kg and its maximum dimensions should be 55x40x20 cm 
  • One checked suitcase with a maximum weight of 23 kg 
  • Plus one additional piece 
  • Miles and more Hon Circle Senator or Gold Star Alliance members can bring one additional piece plus one golf bag

 Business Saver and Business Flex  

  • Passengers are allowed to carry two cabin bags plus two checked-in suitcases
  • The maximum weight of each bag should not exceed 32 kg 
  • Children are allowed the same baggage allowance as adults plus one collapsible stroller or one car seat 
  • Infants are allowed one checked-in baggage weighing a maximum of 10 kg plus one collapsible stroller or one car seat 
  • Miles and More Frequent Traveller (Silver Status ) members will be permitted one checked-in suitcase plus 2 carry-on baggage 
  • The maximum weight of a checked bag is 32kg
  • The maximum weight of carry-on baggage is up to 8 kg each with dimensions 55x40x20 cm
  • Miles and more Hon Circle Senator or Gold Star Alliance members can bring one additional piece plus one golf bag

What are the general dimensions for Baggage allowed in Air Dolomiti?

  • Checked-in suitcase may not exceed 158cm ( width +height + depth)
  • Cabin bags may not exceed 115 cm (width+height +depth)

As a matter of fact, the maximum weight for hand luggage is 8kg while the dimensions are 55x40x20 cm 

Only one cabin baggage is included for economy class fares and two for Business Class fares

What if your trip includes a connecting flight?

In such cases, your check-in luggage would be sent to your final destination as per Air Dolomiti Baggage Policy. Your final destination would be mentioned on your baggage claim tag.

In certain conditions, you will be required to collect your luggage and check it again for your connecting flight. They are :

If you have purchased two or more tickets from different airlines.

If your connecting flight departs from another airport other than the one you arrive at. 

If your next flight departs the next day or if your transfer is more than 12 hours.

Another point to note is that if it involves other airlines, the checked baggage policy of the airline that operates the longer flight segment will be applied.

Hand Baggage Policy

Currently, there are changes in the Air Dolomiti baggage policy or rules for hand baggage. As per the new rule, passengers are, at the moment, allowed only to take one piece of hand luggage no matter what fare you have purchased.

As a result, if you bring 2 handbags, you can carry one bag on board but the other will have to be checked in. Your hand baggage that complies with the size and weight restrictions can now be checked in free of charge.

However, if your free handbag exceeds the Air Dolomiti Baggage allowance like the allowed number of bags, size, and weight limits, then excess baggage fees will be charged.

What am I allowed to take on Air Dolomiti hand baggage?

Your essential items like personal documents, medicines, mobile phones, laptops, and valuables are supposed to be in your carry-on.

E-cigarettes and lithium-ion spare batteries are only allowed in carry-on baggage. In addition, power banks are also allowed in cabin baggage.

Portable electronic devices like mobiles, cameras, laptops, and tablets are permitted.

Sharp or blunt items like scissors, pocket knives are not allowed 

There are certain restrictions on liquids. However, you are allowed to bring baby food which has to be consumed during the flight, and medicines too provided you show the prescription.

Fees For Excess Baggage

Passengers holding light fare tickets can add hold luggage to your booking online in these ways 

  • When booking your flight ticket 
  • Using the Manage Booking section on the website 
  • By contacting the Air Dolomiti Call Center 

It is recommended to pay for your hold luggage 8 days before your flight departure otherwise you have to pay for a higher rate at the airport.

For economy light fares 

  1. For all flights within Europe 
    • If the booking is made online and  up to 8 days before departure, you can purchase a single checked bag around 25 euros and 
    • If a booking is made online and up to 7 days before departure, one checked baggage would cost you around 30 euros 
    • If a booking is made at the airport, it would cost you around 50 Euros 

At the same time, the excess baggage fee for  a second bag would be around 80 euros 

  1. For flights within Italy 
  • If the booking is made online and  up to 8 days before departure, you can purchase a single checked bag around 15 euros and 
  • If a booking is made online and up to 7 days before departure, one checked baggage would cost you around 20 euros 
  • If a booking is made at the airport, it would cost you around 50 Euros 
  • Excess baggage fees for the second bag would be around 80 Euros 

For all flights with all fares that include holding luggage, the second or extra suitcase would cost around 80 Euros.

Baggage Policy on Special baggage 

Special baggage includes sporting equipment, musical instruments, or other special baggage. Passengers need to make a reservation for special baggage no later than 48hours before departure.

What are Air Dolomiti’s sports baggage policy and allowance?

If you have booked your flight on a fare that includes hold luggage, then you will be permitted to bring in sports equipment instead of a suitcase free of charge.

If your fare does not include hold luggage like Economy Light, then you will have to pay fees for it.

Kindly ensure that your sports items are within the specified size limitations. Its length should not exceed 2 meters and its maximum weight is 32 kg.

In the case of bicycles, they need to be packed properly in a protective bicycle case. E-bikes and tandem bicycles are not accepted on Air Dolomiti flights.

Can I bring my musical instruments on Air Dolomiti?

As a matter of fact, musical instruments require to be booked in advance at least 48hours before flight departure 

They can be transported as 

Cabin baggage -Small instruments like the violin can be carried free of charge as carry-on baggage instead of hand luggage. However, it should fit into the overhead bin with a maximum weight of up to 8kg.

Extra Seat –  If your instrument is large or medium-sized such that it does not fit the overhead bin in the aircraft cabin, then you can purchase an extra seat provided it falls under certain dimensions. The maximum weight should not exceed 75 kg.

Extra baggage -In this case, it must be properly packed in a hard case as the airline won’t be liable for any damages. The maximum weight of the musical instrument should be 23 kg
