In addition to the hub’s maintenance location, American Airlines also operates its largest major maintenance and repair operations (MRO) base in Tulsa. In cooperation with partners, American Airlines operates approximately 6,000 domestic and international routes every day. The airline started its work through an alliance of more than 70 small airlines in 1930 and has now become a founding member of the Oneworld alliance, the world’s third-largest airline alliance.

American Airlines exclusively ordered Boeing aircraft in the 2000s. This strategy changed on July 20, 2011, when American Airlines announced the largest-ever joint order for 460 narrow-body jets, including 260 Airbus A320 series aircraft. In 2013, after the merger with American Airlines, other Airbus aircraft joined the fleet, the latter almost exclusively operating Airbus aircraft.
